Height: 10′-20′ Spread: 8′-10′. An upright spreading, multi-stemmed large shrub to small tree with 3″ to 4″ long dark green leaves emerging in early spring and persisting late into fall. Bark exfoliates to a light brown underbark. Pale creamy-white fragrant flowers are borne on seven-tiered panicles from August to late fall. The sepals turn red and the effect is spectacular. Reported to be very adaptable to heavier soils. Introduced from China in 1980. Full sun. Plant Select® 2008. Zone 5.
