Height: 6′-8′ Spread: 6′-8′. A shrub native to the southwest uplands. Yellow 1″ tubular flowers are borne in pairs followed by purple-black, twin fruits in August and September. The fruits nest in large, showy, red-purple bracts which are the distinguishing feature of the species. Though edible, the juicy fruits are not palatable, but are loved by birds. Part sun to shade.
