Height: 50′-60′ Spread: 35′-45′. Fast-growing native cottonwood with ascending branches that form a pyramidal crown. The narrow, willow-like leaves are light green in summer, turning golden yellow in fall. Susceptible to leaf spot and bacterial wet wood. If trees are purchased in containers, score the roots deeply because incidents of girdling have been reported. Suckers to form groves. Hardiest cottonwood surviving at elevations over 8000′. Full sun. Zone 2.
