Mayday tree is a medium-sized ornamental tree that is closely related to chokecherry. Fragrant white flowers in loose drooping racemes to 6″ long appear in late April to early May. A black fruit ripens in late July to early August. Summer foliage is medium to dark green with a fall color ranging from yellow to bronze red. An excellent tree for attracting wildlife. Mayday trees are some of the first trees to leaf out in spring. Full sun. Zone 3.
