Height: 30′-40′ Spread: 20′-30′. Open, upright habit with startling magenta pink flowers in 4″ to 8″ long racemes that bloom in late May to early June. The pinnately compound leaves are an attractive bluish-green but have little fall color. The showy flowers are worth the effort to grow this tree despite its susceptibility to borers and dieback from early fall or late spring freezes. Susceptible to borers, so annual preventative insecticide treatment is a must to maintain tree health. Full sun. Zone 4.
